Sir Vincent Cable was Secretary of State for Business innovation and Skills and president of the Board of Trade in the Coalition government from 2010-15. Former leader of the Liberal Democrats. For 20 years was MP for Twickenham.
Before entering politics worked as an economist in public, private and academic institutions and was Chief Economist at Shell.
Since leaving parliament has become Visiting Professor at the LSE, at tbe university of Nottingham and the University of Shenzhen. Also Chair of Element 2 the hydrogen company and Chair of the eFreight 2030 consortium.
Author of books including Eclipsing the West: China, India, and the forging of a new world order (2025.university of Manchester press). The Chinese Conundrum (2022, Alma Press), How to be a Politician (2023, Penguin) The Storm (2010) and After the Storm (2016). Both Atlantic press.
