Minister Yu is a senior diplomat serving as the Minister for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the United Kingdom since 2024. He acts as a key representative for China-UK trade, often highlighting economic complementarity, supporting Chinese enterprises in the UK, and promoting bilateral investment.

Minister Yu oversees trade and economic relations, frequently addressing business leaders on topics like the China International Import Expo (CIIE), financial growth of Chinese firms in the UK, and strengthening trade in sectors like services and research.

Prior to current position, Minister YU served as Director-General of the Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) in China. He has extensive experience in trade remedies, World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations, and previous postings at the Chinese Embassy in Canada.

Minister Yu holds a Master of Management Science and a Bachelor of Economics and is a fellow of Eisenhower Fellowships.
