Mohammed Dawood is a Managing Director and the Middle East, North Africa & Turkey (MENAT) Head of Islamic Finance for HSBC Bank Middle East. This is a position that he has held since 2018. Mohammed started his Islamic finance career with HSBC in London in 1998, before moving to HSBC’s Middle Eastern headquarters in Dubai UAE in 2001 as part of the HSBC Amanah (the brand name for the bank’s Islamic finance business) team. He was part of the Islamic debt financing team and was involved in arranging Sukuk (Islamic bond), project & structured finance transactions for bank’s clients in the GCC, Turkey and Asia.
In 2007, Mohammed was appointed as Global Head of Sukuk financing and built an award-winning franchise for the bank. He was involved in originating and structuring transactions for sovereigns, corporates and FIs including United Kingdom, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Saudi Electricity Company, DP World and notable transactions such as the UKEF-guaranteed Sukuk for Emirates Airline.
Mohammed has over 25 years of experience in Islamic finance and is an Economics graduate from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
