Chart of the week – US bounces back - but still less exceptional?
Last week’s sell-off in the S&P 500 was the biggest one-day fall in the index since the market volatility unleashed by “Liberation Day” in early April. It was an important reminder to investors that policy uncertainty still has scope to upend markets despite a period of relative calm over the summer. While the latest action highlights the ability of the US stock market to recover quickly after sell-offs, there are still significant risks to the outlook.
